General Election candidate for Sligo/North Leitrim Fine Gael Spokesperson on the Marine Since October, 2004. Vice-Chairman of the Oireachtas Joint Committee on Communications and Natural Resources. Chairman of Ballymote Community Enterprise, the first economic community enterprise established in Sligo aimed at creating long-term employment for the area. Chairman of Ballymote Cattle & Horse Show Member of various community and development committees and organisations.

2000's

Re-elected to the Dáil in May 2002. Chairman of the Public Accounts Committee (September 2002- October 2004) Assistant Director of Organisation and Junior Spokesperson with special responsibility for Border Issues. (June 2000-February 2001).

1990's

First elected to the Dáil in 1997 Fine Gael spokesperson on Science, Technology, Small Business & Enterprise and the Border Counties (1997-2000). Sligo Person of the Year Award in 1993 Winner of the Irish Quality Business Award in 1991 and 1992.
